Lathe Machinist – Hydraulic Cylinder Manufacturing & Rebuilding
We are seeking an experienced manual lathe machinist with practical knowledge of manufacturing, repairing, and rebuilding hydraulic cylinders. The successful candidate will be comfortable working from measurements and technical drawings while maintaining close tolerances and a high standard of workmanship.
Compensation
Expected wage range: C$35–C$45 per hour. The offered rate will depend on relevant experience, demonstrated skills and qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate manual lathes and other machine-shop equipment safely and accurately.
- Manufacture and repair hydraulic cylinder rods, barrels, pistons, glands, bushings, and related components.
- Inspect worn or damaged components and machine replacement parts to specification.
- Perform turning, facing, boring, threading, drilling, and related machining operations.
- Read technical drawings and work accurately within required tolerances.
- Use micrometers, vernier calipers, bore gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.
- Work closely with hydraulic technicians throughout the cylinder rebuilding process.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
Qualifications
- Previous experience operating manual lathes.
- Experience manufacturing, repairing, or rebuilding hydraulic cylinders is required.
- Strong understanding of machining materials, fits, threads, tolerances, and surface finishes.
- Ability to read technical drawings and accurately measure components.
- Strong attention to quality, accuracy, and workplace safety.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
